Ok, I'll admit it, I started this section because I have something to plug, but I'm not the only one!

I'm a member of a girl band who play folky and early music either a cappella or with a combination of guitar, fiddle and recorders (and maybe even clarinets one day).  We've been promised a gig at a local-ish folk club soon, so I'll keep you posted about that. In the meantime, you'll find us on myspace:

Dear me, am I still the only person who has posted in this section?

We've stopped nagging the chap at the afore-mentioned local-ish folk club when someone we know said her husband waited 20 years for a gig there!

However, Karen and I (ie 2/3 of the Bailey Sisters) will be singing for our supper at the Eighth Day Vegetarian Café on Oxford Road, Manchester, on Friday 17th July, between 5 and 7 pm.  The follow day, you will find us at Saddleworth Folk Festival's Hiring Fair, where we have been given one of only nine slots, so we're a bit chuffed.

There is a new song (written by Karen) called "Navigator" on our Myspace page.  The fiddle part will be added in due course.

Gosh I haven't been here for a while have I?  We've been quite busy since then, including an appearance on Oldham Community Radio (just waiting for the call from Mike Harding now!)

Next gig is at the church of St Michael and All Angels, Cornholme near Todmorden on 11th December.  The concert is called "Four Seasons in Song" (no Vivaldi!)  The concert starts at 7.30, tickets are £5 and include an interval mince pie and glass of mulled wine.  Proceeds towards church funds.  We are having the gig recorded too, so hope to make a CD of it if we sound any good!

Well, the afore-mentioned gig went really well, and without the knowledge of two thirds of the band, bits of it were filmed.  Here's the first clip that's been launched into cyberspace:
